SLC lawyer to join national intellectual property group--Jonathan W. Richards, a senior shareholder and director of the Salt Lake City-based intellectual property law firm Workman Nydegger, was nominated to serve as Secretary of the American Intellectual Property Association. He will begin serving his one-year term as an officer of the association in October.
Richards' practice focuses on patent and trademark law matters, assisting clients in obtaining, maintaining and enforcing protection of their inventions and trade identities. He also served for many years as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Brigham Young University's J. Rueben Clark Law School.
Richards, who received the AIPLA 2007 Project Award last fall, has served on the AIPLA Trademark Treaties and International Law Committee from 2003 to 2007.
SLC clean energy company makes management changes -- Terra Systems Inc., a Salt Lake City clean coal energy technology company, named Dan Breene its chief financial officer.
Breene brings more than 30 years of experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, leasing, investment banking, operations and strategic planning with firms including Bernstein Global Wealth Management, Tektronix, PacifiCorp, Westinghouse Credit, GE Capital, Transamerica and Crocker Bank. He is a graduate of Lehigh University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics and San Francisco State University where he received an MBA.
The company also named Reynold Roeder its executive chairman. He will oversee the executive team.
Clayton Timothy was named chief executive, while George Ford was appointed president of the company.
