• LIVEPITCH EVENT -- LivePitch returns to Utah on Tuesday at the Novell Open Source Technology Center from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The LivePitch Event puts five pre-screened and pre-coached entrepreneurs in front of three to five investors and industry experts. Entrepreneurs pitch to the panel for four minutes. Investors then have three minutes to ask questions. Lastly, the panel gives feedback and reviews the company's performance. After the time has expired, the next company pitches and is evaluated.
FundingUniverse.com is now accepting applications from companies to pitch at the event. Spectators, entrepreneurs, accredited angel investors and industry experts interested in participating in the luncheon may register by visiting FundingUniverse.com or by calling (877) 638-3616.
The investors' luncheon is free. The application fee for entrepreneurs is $25. The presenting fee (if selected) is $50, and the audience fee is free.
• FREE SEMINAR -- The Start Smart Class at Utah Valley University will be held on Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Geneva Building, 1410 W. 1200 South in Orem, Room GB 203. Entrepreneurial success begins with this free two-hour seminar on how to start a business. Topics covered include: rewards & drawbacks of business ownership, business entry strategies, business planning, legal & regulatory requirements, forms of business ownership, sources of business financing and sources of business assistance. • CAREER FAIR -- Career Placement Services will host more than 150 employers during the fall 2008 Internship and Career Fair Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center Ballroom at Brigham Young University.
Students of all academic disciplines are encouraged to attend, dressed in professional attire, and should bring several copies of a current resume.
Before coming to the fair, students should visit careerfair.byu.edu to see which companies interest them, said Patricia Whiting, assistant adviser with Career Placement Services.
