This thread discusses the Content article: Way to grow! Gardening with kids

To get your children excited about raising their own food consider starting by having them grow TickleMe Plant first. As a science teacher, one assignment I give my kids, is to grow a TickleMe Plant over the summer to extend their learning throughout the summer. I send home three seeds with each child as an end of the year gift. This is the plant that will close its leaves and lower its branches when tickled. How cool is that!! This allows kids to learn the basic skills needed for gardening and often increases their sensitivity to plants and other living things. Readings and discussions on plant requirements and their role in the web of life can be included of course. Parents that are interested in sharing their love of plants and nature with their child, can get more information at http://www.ticklemeplant.com Help your kids brains continue to grow over the summer, while they are having fun and enjoying nature at the same time. In September my kids come back with stories about how they loved growing their "Pet TickleMe Plant" which by then have beautiful pink flowers and seeds.

Great tip kidsgardener! I think that would help generate interest in kids with gardening. I'm going to check it out.

Last weekend, I took my children to Young Living Farms in Mona, Utah. It was incredible. The farm was absolutely breathtaking and was a wonderful place to be. My kids also really enjoyed themselves and became very curious with gardening. So that's just another suggestion -- take your kids out to a farm. It is really an amazing experience!

Wow..lots of great ideas to get kids excited about gardening. Also thanks for post about the TickleMe Plant I went to the website www.TickleMePlant.com
My little one loved the cartoon and my older daughter loved the video. They both couldn't believe that a plant could close its leaves and droop as if it went to sleep after being tickled!
We ordered the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse. Glad I found your article and the post as well. I am singing the I Love My TickleMe Plant and can't wait to grow it.
