It may come as a surprise to some, but Mapleton does have a code that pertains to the responsibilities of dog ownership within Mapleton City.
My frustration is that, not only is it impossible for me to walk for any length of time within the city without being accosted by someone's four footed friend, it is impossible to walk anywhere on my own property without stepping in someone else's doggie doo. Read more...

guess what Sharon? You said it your self, this area is a rural area. It is sad to say because I keep my dogs at home too. But dogs do get out. and break their chains. I have horses and there was a time last year the inevitable happened. We have great neighbors that came to our rescue. We were very fortunate.
If you choose to live in a rural area, you get a rural environment. We have million plus dollar houses that sprang up behind us. They don't like the smell of the horses. I tell them like I tell you.... Go back to the city.
It is no surprise that people live in the country because they want the country life. When you step in the dog dodo. count your blessings that you have grass and that you are not in New York. A little dog dodo is not much for living in these wonderful mountains. However people who own animals need to be responsible but there are escapee's.
We were away on vacation. I have an old hunting dog that decided he didn't like being in the dog run without the usual attention. He escaped. He stayed on the property, he did bark at joggers, but never left the yard. someone called the police and the police came out to investigate, and left a card. My older children returned the call and told the officer that we were on vacation. When my older children would come to tend to the yard the dog would instantly run back to the dog run. (now you are talking about a 14 year old deaf hunting dog). The officers said that they did not feel remotely scared or threatened by the dog. The said that they watched the dog and he did not leave the yard. Some people are great with animals and animals know it. Some people are not. Animals know that too. Could I suggest that you get some good books and do some studying. Read some good articles. After all you could wake up some morning and find that you live in a huge city where you are not safe to ride a bike or walk because of two legged animals.

Sharon, You have every right to feel as you do. You are not alone.
People think that the law is for every one else, but NOT for them, they feel like they have a right to pick and choose when or if they will obey our laws - or show respect for someone else.
Ti's a sad day when one cannot walk down a public street without being accosted by someones mutt. They may love the mutt, but that should be THEIR problem, not anyone else's.

Why do dogs have the obssesive need to stick their slobber-laden muzzle in your crotch? If we can answer that, we will be close to solving the world's problems.

There are some problem animals, and they do not last very long. A bite or an injury will get a dog put down pretty quickly these days. But there is such thing as the ever annoying intolerant person, who is deathly afraid of poodles. Dogs can bark, dogs can sniff, dogs can even follow you if they want, but if you get bitten or hurt that is a different story. The way you say you were "accosted" seems like your way of making the word "annoyed" sound more dangerous.
