Provo needs to have more sidewalks for its pedestrians 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
There are no sidewalks in the neighborhood where I live.
Sidewalks are an important part of any community. They prevent excessive traffic, accidents and other inconveniences (not that accidents are merely inconveniences).

Maybe in other communities sidewalks are used, but in this community I see more people walking or jogging in the street than on the sidewalks, especially when it snows. If we could get more people using them and leave the streets for vehicles, I would agree. But until then, I think it's a waste of taxes.

This letter is coming from a 6th grader so you have to look at it from the perpective of an elementary student-one who probably walks to school. This is not a jogger, it's a child.

Well, I have no idea where the young student lives, but the sidewalks in my neighborhood are used all day long by joggers, walkers, etc.  What is sad is the shape some of them are in.

Jacob - Go to the Provo Municipal Council. More info here

Kurt - Sidewalk maintainence is the responsibility of the landowner. There might be some way to 'persuade' people to fix their sidewalk if it's really bad. The city will do it for $$$.
