Veteran offers thank you

In my 88-year life span I felt that I had seen everything, heard everything, that would be moments I would consider highlights in my life.

But Sept. 5 this year I met a veteran near my age, Veteran Dick Wemer of St.

Thank you sir for your service to this nation and for playing a part in rescuing the world from tyranny. All succeeding generations should be forever in gratitude of your service. I thank you, my family thanks you and the rest of the Greatest Generation for putting your lives unselfishly on the line for such a very important cause.

Best wishes to you and your family.

I wholeheartedly agree.

WWII has been one of my many interests for years and I believe that the bravery and honor displayed by the soldiers in the war and the sacrifice of the US citizens during that time was unbelievable. They all deserve our utmost thanks.

I also believe that same bravery and honor exist today in our armed forces.

God Bless.

This veteran (Viet Nam era) can only say that I would do it all again for you all as well.

There is STILL no country greater or more worthy on the face of the earth that I too would again not hesitate to defend with my life.

I pray to the Heavenly Father, Lord and Savior to protect us from the enemies of our freedoms, foreign AND domestic, so that we don't have to do it for Him......again.

OOOORAH! Thank you, thank you for saving us and life here as we currently know it.

Pray to God that our children will not have to save us from ourselves!
God Bless You All!

Definitely the greatest letter to the editor I've ever read in this paper. And what awesome people who made that trip possible. That was important. Thank you Sir, for your service, bravery and sacrifice. We are all the better for it. This country is great, not because of its politicians, not because of its wealth or power, but because of people like this gentleman and other men and women honorably wearing the uniform. Thank you all.

How I wish my father Lt.Col. Clyde Stamps could have join this wonderful group of veterans.  He died in 1997.  This was a generation of unbelievable men and women.
