Ah yes, Al Pacino said it best in the movie "The Devil's Advocate" when he said something like, "If I can't get them [their souls]with greed or power, there's always vanity." Americatoday isn't the America your parents and their parents grew up in. Their America was built on honesty, honor, morals and spirituality, all of which made it great.

Today, those honorable traits are greatly diminished by a growing number in the media, legal and political professions.

That's probably why he also said that lawyers are the new priesthood in that movie.

Our biggest moral issue is that we are too religious as a nation. We have accepted ignorance as a necessary part of that religious belief. That may have been true of the average person in the past but we now accept ignorance, so long as it is accompanied by faith, in our leaders. This wasn't true of those generations that built this nation. This ignorance has resulted in a failure to see the problems that we have today that are different from those that our religions were built to control. We therefore don't have any morals that require us to address contemporary problems and we let them grow. We don't need to become more spiritual and moral but rather differently spiritual and moral. Our old values, commonly believed in this nation, do not serve us well. We need new values along with the best of the old, and we need to practice them.

Too much verbage and hot air just to allude to science being your god!

Yes, America is sure not like what my parents and grandparents grew up in. Here's an article that touches on that that was written on the eve of Y2K.

"The inconveniences we anticipate from the Y2K bug would pale in comparison to a time when the average life span was dragged down to 46 years because so many died in childhood; when 97 percent of laborers, without unions, worked long hours for little pay in often dangerous conditions; when human and animal waste was mixed with drinking water; and when the whole family shared the bath water in a wash tub..."

Who knows, Mr. Jack? You may just get what you wish for. With another year of King George and his version of morality at the helm, we could all be living in caves again. :o

Posted from my Blackberry, which John McCain's campaign staff said he helped create. It was actually invented in Canada, but what the heck. They just can't stop lying.

Such as theft? Like when somebody writes 5000 messages (many dissertation length) on his employers time?
