Come to Orem. I use to walk in the park by the Recreation Center where a big yellow lab would stalk me and my young leased dog. He would try to attack us everytime.  Once I called the police to get help because I couldn't even get back to my car.  They claimed they came, but I never saw them. The owner's have been cited more than once, but I guess they believe their dog owns the park.  I now go down to the Orem park off Geneva road.  You and your dog are at a disadvantage when you follow the lease laws around a loose dog.  A friendly dog can become vicious in a split second.  And no, the animal control doesn't keep up with the problem. They are out numbered.

Sharon,
You have every right to feel as you do. You are not alone.

People think that the law is for every one else, but NOT for them, they feel like they have a right to pick and choose when or if they will obey our laws - or show respect for someone else.

Ti's a sad day when one cannot walk down a public street without being accosted by someones mutt. They may love the mutt, but that should be THEIR problem, not anyone else's.

I am not making excuses for irresponsible pet owners. What annoys me is I have people running around my neighborhood late at night and in the wee hours of the morning (in the dark). Making my dogs bark and my horses run the corral. There are curfews and I wish that there were more and I also wish that they were regulated.

It makes me nervous because criminals also run around in the middle of the night, breaking into cars and destroying property. I worry about the safety of the children in our area.

Also I wish that there would be more regulation on Bike riders. They need to ride on the proper side of the street and have lights and reflectors and make turns the same as vehicles.
I know that people are out for exercise. But like you said. There are laws and they need to be enforced. Children should learn laws for riding bikes. There should be more laws that include skateboarders. Especially on side walks.
Maybe there should be more tickets in that area.

I shake my head at people who go all to pieces when My dog barks at them from our own property. However I love it that I don't have visiting teachers any more. It is nice and peaceful.

Where do you 'lease' a dog? My wife wants another Golden, but I figure leasing one would be cheaper and easier to maintain.

Let me understand this...you get pissed because some people are out at night, causing your dogs to bark.  Could be a good thing...dogs alerting you to prowlers, or US citizens enjoying their right to be out anytime they want...usually jogging in the early morning before going to work. This isn't Bagdad, and there is no curfew.

If it was prowlers that they were barking at, I could see the point. When it is dumb people out running around in dark jogging clothes it is scary. Yes there are curfews. What amazes me. They don't have any reflectors or anything. Then they run in the middle of the street. You can't see them when you are driving. Isn't that kind of like jaywalking or something.
Talk about dumb. But they set the neighbors chickens off, make all of the dogs in the area bark, and basically disturb the peace. I would love to run around their houses in the middle of the night and keep their rat dogs barking.
Better yet I would love it if the city would allow me to put up a six foot fence around my house. When the fencing laws were established it was because this was supposed to be a rural area. Things have changed.

There is a reason I don't own a dog.

Unfortunately, some dog owners don't or won't keep their dog confined and I still have to clean up after a dog.

People, please train your dogs!
