And here I was looking forward to seeing WRZ's evidence that the US is a Christian nation.
**Sigh**
Actually, I think you are making a reasonable objection to the point. The United States is slowly becoming less a Christian nation and more a Muslim nation.
The objection to the point is that the United States were not founded on ANY religious principle. Look it up in the Constitution yourself. I already did.
When the framers of the constitution say that the bible was a major driver on the creation of the bible and that the constitution was founded on the teachings of Christ and christianity, I take them at their word. The only doctrine in contravention of that is the tripoli treaty and I can understand the politics of that. When by far the majority of writings say we are a christian nation and these writings are predominantly from the framers of the constitution I prefer to take them at their word.
The Tripoli Treaty was written by an Ottoman Pasha. Ottoman Pashas would never admit that any nation was Christian. And the United States had to go along in order to execute the treaty. Of course, Pashas would likely readily confirm that Turkey was a Muslim nation.

The Pasha did not write the treaty, pasha wrz.
And what is your point?
The point is that we signed it, and international treaties signed by the US become part of our federal law.

Bush cannot and should not refer to our government as his government. The people of this country must not stand by and give you sole power to do whatever you alone consider best for our country. For this reason we have checks and balances in place.
Yep. Unfortunately the checks and balances need to grow a backbone and do their jobs.
It's certain that Bush will go down in history as one of the worst 5 Presidents ever, maybe even the worst. How he'll rank with the world's dictators is yet to be seen. At least he'll be able to say he was good at something (wrecking a country, yeah, but something).
gr81,
I agree with everything you said except for I do not believe he has wrecked our country, he has given us a black eye, but that will soon go away with a 'good' President to lead our wonderful country. We now know what type of person we don't want, as a President of the United States of America.
It remains to be seen what type of a President follows this one...and what kind of job that President will do.

My example of why GW would be a poor president was when I read about his thrice failed oil exploration attempts. With daddy's money and then later Saudi money little george played oil man in the most oil rich county in Texas. Of course, this gray matter challenged wanna be couldn't find a drop of oil and bankrupted three companies while providing a golden parachute each time for himself.
These ill gotten gains then provided a way for GW to buy into the Texas Rangers baseball team for a few million bucks. Well guess what: The Rangers pressure the city of Arlington to build them a state of the art stadium at a cost to the taxpayers in the hundreds of millions. GW then promptly sold his share for a tidy little windfall.
Nice work if you can get it. Or if you have family ties.
That information alone was enough to convince me that this guy was not only a dufuss but a con artist.
Check your crystal ball and tell us about Hillary and Osama Obama.
Huh?
I did not need a crystal ball to see the creature that is George Bush. I researched as all voters should have in the 90's and determined that this guy was a back slapping, smiling dolt who had no business making important decisions for the people in this country.
I researched and found you are a lying SOB.
Barrack Obama on the other hand seems to frighten you wrz.
Muslims usually do... because of the way they conduct business. Trust them and they will put a knife in your back when you least expect it. Go Osama Obama!
Is it because of skin tone or your obvious lack of facts concerning Obama's upbringing and patriotism in this country?
I think I said. It's because he will not fully explain to the American people his involvement/connection to Islam, the religion that fosters world terrorism.
Slander on your part will only help to bring voters to the Democratic nomination this year.
I wouldn't put it past Democrats to use that as a basis for a vote.
Thanks for your part in helping to send our great country into a new direction.
You mean like the new (Dem) Congress... Who's rating is in the toilet? Is that your point?

That's an easy question: dictator. Give me another one.
If President Bush was a 'dictator'...it is not likely that this public forum, or any OTHER public forum would still be in existance. For that matter...neither would the Congress or the Senate. They would be the first to go.

"leftintheuc's" brains have obviously left him stranded.
