I travel a bit on college business, and I often listen to Glenn Beck for the latest on the conservative side. Unlike RushbinLimbaugh or InsanityHannitty, Beck seems truly committed to his cause as he sees it. I disagree with him a lot, but he does talk sincerely and clearly, and not a bot like Hannitty.

What did impress me about GB was his immediate condemnation of the AbuGreib abuses when they first were reported.

We hope he brings none of this to Stadium of Fire. This is a moment for everyone to join in gratitude for the great blessings of liberty we enjoy, to appreciate those who created it and to align our hopes for freedom in the world.

I thank the editors for this piece. I hope for the same thing, yet, knowing Glenn Beck, I am skeptical. It has seemed to me that Provo's AFF has deteriorated over the last few years from a celebration of America (something both the right and left can appreciate) to something verging on right-wing polemic. We'll see, we'll see...

I must admit that I've not listened to him very much, however I do occasionally see bits like this: http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Glenn_Beck_removed_Ron_Paul_from_online_poll . Censorship of your own poll because it had an undesired outcome is not exactly straight up and honest, or IMHO patriotic.

If you agree with Ron Paul's stance on the primary issues or not, he's still running in the GOP primary and his popularity is very useful in understanding the will of the people. He did come out in 2nd in the Utah GOP Straw poll earlier this month, after all.

To bring this back around, I agree that individuals should be picked to lead such events that can bring us together as Americans instead of divide us on political lines.

I have listened to Glenn Beck quite a bit.

While his political position is different than mine, I admire him for sticking to his guns and asking the tough questions.

But above all, he is an entertainer. For that reason alone, think it would be fun to go listen to him.
