This link lists political contributions to all candidates through June 30. Type in your zip code and see who your neighbors are supporting financially:
http://www.nytimes.com/ref/us/politics/2008_EG_FINANCES_SEARCH.html#My LDS ward covers 5 zip codes. I typed in all 5 and Romney had several contributions in my area (Southeast Louisiana) including a couple that are quite substantial (over $3000). None of them are from LDS members.
In fact, surprisingly, he was the top fundraiser in those zip codes. There were a few contributions for Obama, Clinton, and even a few for Paul. I think I may have seen one Giuliani and one McCain, and an Edwards or two. But by far Romney was the top. I was quite shocked by that, living in this part of the country.
As an LDS person, I would never vote
for or
not vote for someone based solely on their religion. Right now I'm really on the fence between a couple of candidates and need to learn more before I decide. However, I will say that I do think Romney would be the best one to get us on track fiscally and with our health care system - two MAJOR issues for me.
