Articles like this make BYU look foolish. TCU and Utah have done as much for the OOC schedule as BYU has done since the Creation of this pathetic conference. BC, and AZ last year, and UCLA and Tulsa this year, show that BYU is good, but if BYU really wants to claim to be the flagship of the conference then it should stop pointing fingers and win out. Beat UCLA this year, and win out next year then we can talk the talk. As for now, this article is a waste of ink.

I agree with many of the comments here. BYU can only blame itself for having 2 losses. I don't like PAC-10 refs, but BYU didn't help themselves with turnovers. And while BYU has matured a lot this season since then, I'm not disappointed that they're not in the BCS. Plenty of other 2 loss teams got left out, too.
What really bothers me is not the Vegas Bowl, it's having to play UCLA again - especially a 6-6 UCLA that we're sure to run over (like we did Oregon last year). They beat us at the start of the season, but injuries, etc, have doomed them. (Honestly, I don't give UCLA (lost 2 QBs), Cal (lost 6 straight), or Oregon (lost 2 QBs) a chance in the post-season.) What bothers me is that we can't play someone who has a similar record (or at least a winning one). TCU will be playing a more equal team (Houston) than us.
Should we leave the MWC? NO! We should definitely schedule hard non-conference teams (as we are trying to do), but the problem isn't the MWC (look how many teams we got in bowl games this year (5 of 9 -- more than half)!
Here's a wacky idea I want to throw out: What if the MWC and WAC got together and created a bowl game featuring the #1 in each? Forget the PAC-10 #4/5! Who knows if the BCS might someday incorporate another championship bowl - and if so, what better way to get more recognition for the west conferences (a long shot, I know)? Whether that happens or not, I think it would be a step in the right direction. BYU - Boise State (two 2-loss teams) would be a lot more exciting than the current line-up.

Hawaii played two I-AA teams this year -- Northern Colorado and Charleston Southern -- and survived two overtime scares on the road, a two-point road win and came from behind to score the winning TD in the final minute of the final game against a 4-9 Washington team.
I wanted to point out something here. Did y'all know that Hawaii tried to "beef up" its schedule this year? They had Michigan State on the slate and were in talks with Michigan to play. Guess what? MSU paid to get out of playing Hawaii, and Michigan opted to play Appalachian State instead of Hawaii for their season opener (we all know what a mistake that was for the Wolverines!). It makes it difficult to have a tough schedule, no matter how good or bad you are, when no one wants to play you.

Al Davis said it best "just win baby". That slogan should hang in Bronco's office because it is the only way BYU or Utah is going to get to any respectable post season bowl. BYU must go undefeated to get out of the Vegas bowl and other comparitble bowls. Had they beaten UCLA and Tulsa they would be playing on new years day in a BIG bowl and not the "elvis bowl". College football is broken and will stay broken until they adopt a true playoff system like ALL other major sports. The BCS is a joke and once again is a mess this year after it's #1 and #2 lost last week. Champions are established on the field and not in some "good ole boys office" back east. In the mean time, BYU simply has to go undefeated to have any sort of meaningful post season game.
