Faith In America • [i]Remarks as prepared for delivery at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas, Dec. 6, 2007 Thank you, Mr. President, for your kind introduction. It is an honor to be here today. This is an inspiring place because of you and the First Lady and because of the film exhibited across the way in the Presidential library. Read more...

Hey mitt,
I have faith in America. Faith in God, too. Religion, though is tearing us apart. Evil, it is, in its' manifestation.
Still, we need a republican president next. No democrat should inherit the mess from George. Should that republican be mitt? Nah. too mormon. We need someone with character, who's experienced coffee and life.

What do I believe about Jesus Christ? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. My church's beliefs about Christ may not all be the same as those of other faiths.
Yep, the offspring of Adam God and the Virgin Mary through physical sex and the spirit brother of Lucifer, according to Prophet Brigham Young.

What Mitt apparently does not understand is that America is full not only of people of different religions, but those of no religion at all, and all have a right to be treated equally. Read between the lines, and Romney is saying Americans are free to belong to any religion they choose, as long as they choose one. I could not disagree more.
Secularism and freedom are not mutually exclusive...except to religious bigots. Europe's cathedrals may be empty, but their democracies are thriving; and anyone who thinks all of the very religious countries in the Middle East are free has rocks in their head. Christian religions are better? Not so, that is why the founding fathers put the protections in the First Amendment that they did. They remembered the Spanish Inquisition and the state sponsored religions of Europe. Here is part of the Establishment Clause from the First Amendment.
Neither a state nor the federal government may set up a church. Neither can pass laws that aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion over another. Neither can force a person to go to or to remain away from church against his will or force him to profess a belief or disbelief in any religion.
Perhaps Mitt should read it. Mitt did not have my vote before. He has moved himself even further away.

Amen brother. But beware. It is clear from the response (at least here) that most do not respect those without faith any more than they respect gays. While many LDS complain, rightly so, about the religious bigotry seen against Mitt so far in this race they are happy to see those without faith treated the same way or are so blinded by love for Mitt that they cannot hear/read his words and understand that each one was chosen carefully. Whether Mitt is this strongly opposed to those without faith or simply wanted to pander hard to the religious right does not matter. He does not have my support and has motivated me to put energies into those who oppose him.

"...free to belong to any religion they choose, as long as they choose one."
You sound like a recruiter for Freemasons! That's their credo.
