To see how a long bridge across a large lake can work, look at the 2 floating bridges across Lake Washington in Seattle.

A bridge across the lake would be a great commute bonus.  My only qualm is that Utah Lake is the largest fresh water lake in Utah and it may be a better idea to start cleaning it, protecting it and promoting outdoor activities on it.  You can have both of course so mine is just an minor point.

Oops:

And oops:
Today the bridge is near the end of its useful life, according to the state Department of Transportation. The bridge must be closed in high winds, and even after a seismic retrofit in 1999, it is at risk of collapse in an earthquake. Due to the weight of various reinforcements over the years, the bridge currently rides about a foot lower in the water than it did originally. The DOT is working on replacing the aging bridge with a new span of six lanes.

Yeah, make them dig their own personal tunnels!

Proud to be a wicked witch and uppity wench.

Words for Dubbs from an apostle: "More regrettable than the [LDS] Church being accused of not being Christian is when church members react to such accusations in an un-Christlike way," Apostle Robert D. Hales said on the second day of the two-day conference. "Surely our Heavenly Father is saddened - and the devil laughs - when we contentiously debate doctrinal differences with our Christian neighbors."

Yeah, make them dig their own personal tunnels!

Isn't tunnel digging one of the subsections taught in Eagle Mountain's schools for the "Prepare for a Career at the Point of the Mountain" class?

A road across would be great.. and while we're at it, how about an island for some recreation.  Years ago I saw a plan for something like that.
