Now that I'm learning my way around I'm loving it. The fact 12 yr old "guests" can't just flame and run is nice.

Its a user contolled, user rating system. You are allowed to vote for or against a user once you have posted a minimum of 5 comments on the forums. I'm not certain that we'll keep it, right now it depends on if and how many people consider it offensive and if the system gets abused.


I think the Karma is one of the best ideas also. If we vote on someone, is it anonymous, and can we later change our vote?

One thing I miss is the ability to move to earlier days in the week quickly. The links at the top of the old pages made that work much easier.

Otherwise it is much cleaner and I like having folks register to comment.

We are planning on adding more icons. We were pressed for our deadline as it was and have been making sure everything is flowing smoothly prior to getting back to that. We used some avatar sets that were freely available since they were quick to install.

I'll add BYU, Utah, UVSC, Utah State etc over the weekend. Also I'll be making other custom sets from our photo galleries of local scenics etc.

The way the karmas work is that you can vote once per hour after you have made at least 5 posts. They are anonymous and you can't change the click. I would call them a beta test at this point and we'll see how they develop. It was a feature that was available and we wanted to get as many features on as possible.

Honestly that was one of the reasons we wanted to go to a registration only site. I believe that all users should be able to comment quickly but at the same time it was getting out of control. We were trying to go through 300-400 comments a day and it was taking up all the time we could be working on new projects to make the site better.

We still only require a email, username and password but each user has an identity now which will cut back on that post and run attitude.
