This is what I was referring to all along. How insensitive a thing to say!
And just to clarify, I do not know the family personally, my son does, has been friends of the boys father since grade school.

It's easy to sit back and make harsh judgements. It may seem like a frivolous lawsuit, but you never know what you might do in the same situation. You might think you do, but you really never know how you will react and respond in a given situation until you have been through it. We all agree that a lawsuit will not bring back anyone, and that monetary compensation will not heal anyone. But, we are not inside the heart and minds of the boys family, and have no way of knowing what they are thinking or feeling.

We know exactly what they are thinking...lets get some money out of this deal. Its a sad thing...but now lets get paid.
Three years ago I had a brain tumor removed. It was HUGE. My surgeon was good enough to remove everything so I did not even have to have radiation treatments afterwards. But..when he replaced the bone and put me back together he did something so now when you look at the right side of my head it looks dented in instead of rounded out.
I could have probably filed a malpractice suit against him for millions and won because he had deformed me slightly....BUT THE MAN HAD JUST SAVED MY DAMNED LIFE!!!!! And it wasn't his fault in the first place that I had gotten a tumor and he did was he was paid to do.
My guess is these people had never thought about a suit until some ambulance chasing attorney put it into their head that he could get them something to compensate them for their loss. Like I said before....It'll never make it to a trial anyway.

Might even be BrightEye's lawyer husband! She sure acts as if she wants a "piece of the action".

I agree that a lawsuit is not justified. Part of the grieving process includes anger. . .This family is definitely in the anger stage. Hopefully, they understand the money they might gain will not lessen their grief or loss.
I also agree that a lawyer probably pushed this along with the family. What will this family do with the money? Will they tell their surviving son that this is what his brother, whom he adored, was worth?
As for BrightEye. . .You say your lawyer husband is a compassionate man. Does he know YOU very well?
FINEHOMES, are you doing well now?

That explains a lot. Did he remove your whole frontal lobe?
And by the way, you WOULDN'T have a medical malpractice case against the doctor. The dent in your head is a known complication of brain surgery. You can only prevail on a medical malpractice case if the doctor violated the standard of care.
