Proud to be a wicked witch and uppity wench.
Words for Dubbs from an apostle: "More regrettable than the [LDS] Church being accused of not being Christian is when church members react to such accusations in an un-Christlike way," Apostle Robert D. Hales said on the second day of the two-day conference. "Surely our Heavenly Father is saddened - and the devil laughs - when we contentiously debate doctrinal differences with our Christian neighbors."

Acutally, that was your decision, you have a blame others complex. Your ex-wife says this about you dosen't she? Be honest with yourself.
I'm delusional yet it's the Church that teaches you your underwear will protect you.
I'm out of touch and Utah has the highest use of anti-depression medication in the country.
I'm needing help and Utah has one of the highest rates of bankruptcy in the country.
Things that make you go hmmmm?
You're right, this isn't the forum to take this concern.
Gasp, the church must not be true!! The things people find to leave the church over. Tell us, what is the real sin behind you leaving? You're right. It's time for me to move on from here as well. Thanks for your comments. I can better see how those in the Church feel about it. I've learned a lot from this exchange.

My recommendation is start from the begining, read the book of Mormon from cover to cover in a few days, and see how it makes you feel compared to the confusion you now live in, and see if the gospel makes more sense than having to disspoint your children who you taught the gospel over and over again, and give them the faithful, dedicated, father/preisthood holder they once knew and loved.

I am giving a personal opinion, not a "professional" one here, Life Rocks. Venting does help. Don't believe those who say it doesn't. You can vent alone, yelling or whatever, or you can voice your feelings publicly. That's fine. Thank God those people don't control our government. Free speech is the first thing they would throw out, and then probably freedom of choice in religion.
I believe a religion can do whatever "it" decides, meaning its leaders. However, if the leaders were compassionate, I believe they would find a way to accommodate non-members better than you were; in fact you were not accommodated at all in my opinion.
The earliest sealings (marriages) in the church were not performed in a temple. They were performed outside under the stars on ground not sanctified for that purpose, or in private homes, not all of which had been blessed. A sealing should be able to be performed in a location where even lowly gentiles can attend. That is, if compassion were involved.
Don't bother with professional counseling. Your feelings are not a mental deviancy. They are the normal feelings of normal people who cannot participate at the wedding of their friends and relatives.
Also, I don't think reading the Book of Mormon will help you feel any better about it. I've read the book. It says nothing significant about church marriage, temple sealing, or anything that goes on in the temple or at weddings. I don't recall that it offered any advice to grieving parents or grandparents who missed their children's wedding. I know it did not say that the people of that time would feel better and not be as bitter if they would read the plates of Laban.
Your feelings are legitimate. The solution is up for grabs. I hope you find one for your own disappiontment. I will pray the Mormon church leaders care enough to find one from the church's side of the issue. It took them over a hundred years to turn around their teaching that certain races were not worthy of the priesthood because of their lack of valor in the pre-existence; so don't hold your breath on them fixing this problem overnight.
