Oh, podjo, that's proof of nothing. That makes no more sense then saying Hinduism and Mormonism are similar because the hold their meetings in buildings.

Dubbs they are very similiar!! In fact they both look forward to plural marriage whether after they die or in secret/sacred while on earth. Correct good buddy?

Yea, big whoop really, many religions have one or two similarities, means nothing really.

Come on man. Plural marriage is one of the main precepts to both "religions". Face facts.

Not at all, you believe it's a main precept and you "claim" to be ex LDS? Once again you show you really never studied the faith while in the church, but have read more anti nonsense than anything.

The church had 5-10% of it's members ever practice polygamy, and today only those who have a spouse die are sealed to another spouse if they choose, hardly a "main precept" bro, your delusional.

Are you then decrying plural marriage in the afterlife for both "religions" or purposely trying to ignore the truth again?

No, it's an eternal principle that will happen to some LDS in the afterlife, not all. A very small percentage. In fact I know of noone in my family that has two wives. Your comparison to Hinduism is not legit because they feel they will recieve 40 virgins if I'm not mistaken as a reward in heaven, for the LDS faith it holds a different meaning.

You sure you were LDS?

Not sure I am, I have spoken to buddists, sihk, hindu's, they have similar beliefs, Jewish temples it depends on how fundamentalist they are, but I've spoken to some orthodox jews that have similar practices.

Show me the proof . . . I showed you my proof.

As I said Betz, it's from people I've spoken with that are either in the faiths, or have taught those in those faiths.

Okay . . . I'll just take that as an admission that you can't actually find proof and are therefore talking out of your butt.

Is it really that difficult for you to admit you're wrong? No one will think less of you . . . mainly because you've never given anyone any reason to think highly of you, but that is beside the point.

take it how you like, I have had the discussions about the topic with many faiths, or ex missionaries that have taught those faiths.

Life Rocks, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that because the LDS ceremonies mean nothing to you that you will always see this as something the LDS church is doing to hurt you. That is your view.

For those who believe in the LDS religion it means something and most (I would think) are happy with the way it is.

The more you bag on the LDS faith as if it is just a load of crap the less sympathy I have for you. It sounds to me that you want to take away this sacred ceremony from the LDS people in your life because you feel that your parental relationship should be more important than their religious beliefs because you don't happen to believe in what they believe.

I'm with you, JLD. (See my post from last night.)When LifeRocks made his first post on this topic, I felt badly for him, not much - just a little. THEN, over the past few days, as some of the truth finally came out in his posts (see his post from last night concerning his disappointment in his wife and children), all bets were off. No more sympathy for him. My sympathies go to his wife, kids, in-laws and future in-laws. If I knew LifeRocks real name and the names of his family members, I would call every temple here in the valley to put their names on the prayer roll, including my own name because I'm really struggling with this guy's mentality.

I still feel bad for the guy. It sucks to be in his situation and I think if it were me that was so bothered by it that I would write the leaders of the church asking for an explanation of why it is that alternatives are frowned upon, etc.

However, I feel his blame on the LDS church is off the mark and I also take offense at anyone that wants to bag on the beliefs of others just because they aren't what he thinks they should be for him.
