I work with substance abuse and I have to say, this guy certainly doesn't have a very good prognosis. I hope he soon sees the need to change.

I say Good job Judge Claudia Laycock, good job...

Yahoo! They got him! He's locked up! Yipee! Go Judge! Sorry Mr. Vandyke, there is no hope for you, not now-not ever, you are a throw away! "Don't really care how you got this way, not ever gonna help you to see a better way. This would never happen to our kids or our family members, nooooo-because we are such fine upstanding happy valley individuals. If you have an addiction around here, forgettaboutit...you are a pariah. So just get used to that Mr. and Mrs. VanDyke, go ahead and live your lives in anguish and shame, you are much older now and no doubt this has aged you even faster. So now, when we see you on the streets, in the grocery store, whatever.. we are going to say "that is the couple with the awful drunken monster of a son.." and then we are going to go home to our perfect children, who probably haven't been in our medicine cabinets raiding the hydrocodone we take for that back injury, or those muscle relaxers we take for those bad muscle issues, or the Xanex we lean on to make a bad day great. Our kids don't drink before, during, and after school...noooooo...Mr. and Mrs. Vandyke had that kid, and he is locked up now, and we are happy happy happy. Until he is released, and he didn't get any help, he didn't have someone say "even though you don't care about yourself or anything else right now, I care about you, and I am going to help you until you can help yourself." He is going to face that pain of the victim he killed, and the child he injured, and whatever else he has endured, and then he is going to have to face you….frankly, I would drink too. This wonderful, wholesome, family based community won't give him a chance either, not to mention a job, a little fellowship, and ounce of caring. Good job, yahoo, he is going to prison. Let's all dance, we have so much to be proud of.

You think that everything you've sarcastically described above doesn't happen in every town or city in this nation?

Proud to be a wicked witch and uppity wench.
Words for Dubbs from an apostle: "More regrettable than the [LDS] Church being accused of not being Christian is when church members react to such accusations in an un-Christlike way," Apostle Robert D. Hales said on the second day of the two-day conference. "Surely our Heavenly Father is saddened - and the devil laughs - when we contentiously debate doctrinal differences with our Christian neighbors."

Let's all dance, we have so much to be proud of. Look, you know how I feel about this. But this post is going a bit too far. For all we know, help has been offered to Mr. Van Dyke, which he refused to accept. If that's the case, then I refuse to feel sorry for him. Also, he's already been arrested/conviced of many DUI's. At what point to you say ENOUGH?
My step-daughter had a DUI a few years back, and she isn't even alcoholic. But you know what? Driving drunk scared the bejesus out of her, knowing she could have hurt/killed an innocent person. She stopped drinking right then. She won't even have a sip any more.
My step-daughter took responsiblity for her actions after the first DUI. Mr. Van Dyke, after all this time, has not. When and if he does, I'll have more respect for him. Until then, forget it.
