LOCAL OPINION: iProvo might save city and residents millionsYes, and pigs might fly. There are few fundamental problems with a governmental entity like iProvo. The first is the ego of elected officials behind the program and their unwillingness to recognize they are in over their heads. A second problem is the inefficiencies of a government bureaucracy.
The free open market will provide cheaper and better services. Why, because hard decisions can be made quickly rather than wrestled through a public forum, and leadership is more attune to their direct task of how to provide the best competitive service for the best price, rather than dodging political bullets.
Finally, as I learned my first day in Economics 101, TANSTAFL, in other words, their ain’t no such thing as a free lunch. The idle promises and hopes of those that support iProvo are just that, idle promises and hopes, but not reality.
Provo, cut your losses now, sell iProvo!
