The problem with this "super fast, super cheap" mentality is, what service provider will ever make money competing with Comcast and Qwest when all they have to do is lower their price $10 per month? THey will price the Service Providers right out of business, and the Taxpayers will end up holding the bag. Providing the cheapest and best product is not possible in this industry, that is one reason why UTOPIA is failing. The service providers can't afford to be a service provider to Residents because residents aren't interested in paying 10 bucks more per month for 10 times the speed. Qwest drops their pricing to residents for a 5Mb Internet connection, and customers jump. Advertising is another stumbling block for UTOPIA, how can MSTAR, XMISSION, and NUVONT compete with Comcast and Qwest with their limitless Advertising budgets? These are small companies with a small footprint compared to Qwest, and Comcast. What Advertising would make sense for UTOPIA? Radio? TV? Direct Mail? to a small footprint covering Some areas of the following cities: Orem, Lindon, a small amount of Payson, Midvale, Murray, and West Valley. How do you market to those areas? Door to Door Sales is the only way to directly market to those cusotmers, and we all know how bad we hate having someone sell us service on the door. UTOPIA will never make it as a wholesale provider, just like IProvo because the large majority of residential customers don't care about anything except price (which I don't think is incorrect, just a fact)
