Yes, I also read what Mc Cain said about being out of Iraq in 5 years. I said to my hubby, "He just clinched it! He will never win now! People want us out NOW, not in 5 years!"

Well, just like the American Idols finals, we know the winner will be named David. We know our next president will be a Democrat

LOL. Better tell RushReader, Raymond, and the crew that. They still can't connect the dots on that one.

And it's already started. There have been three special elections for vacant House seats recently, and the Elephants are 0 for 3. A precursor of things to come.

WASHINGTON — Republicans must regain the confidence of Americans and recast their message to voters to avoid a catastrophe in the fall congressional elections, top GOP officials said Wednesday in a stark postmortem of a loss in rural Mississippi.

Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma, who runs the committee tasked with helping elect Republicans to Congress, said Tuesday's defeat in Mississippi — after losing GOP seats in other special elections in Illinois and Louisiana — was evidence that "a large section of the American people doesn't have confidence in the Republican Party."

"What we've got right now is a deficiency in our message and a loss of confidence by the American people to do what we say we're going to do," Cole said in a conference call with reporters.

He said, "When you lose three of these in a row, you have to get beyond campaign tactics and take a long hard look: Is there something wrong with your product?"

Yea, after seven plus years of Bush and Cheney, the "product" is pretty tarnished.

It's hard to see how anyone can criticize a President who gives up golf in support of 4,000+ soldiers killed in Iraq. Golf! What a magnificent self sacrifice!

I know I come from a different generation, one where I was taught that you have respect for certain people. Like the President of our Country. That doesn't mean we have to like him or agree with him, but even if we did not vote for him, we should show respect for the man who holds the office of President. Truth is, I did vote for him, twice. Would I vote for him again? No. Do I agree with everything he has done? No. Do I believe that everything that has happened in the last 8 years, good or bad, is because of him? No. So, personally, I won't publicly berate him, or call him names. I respect President Bush for being the President of the greatest Country in the World. I believe he has done his best. I actually saw it differently, eric, about him giving up golf. He didn't do it as a sacrifice. I know he is our leader 24 - 7, but everyone gets time off. Do you work 24 - 7? Or do you have week ends off, summer vacations, etc? I think he is entitled to time off and recreation as much as any employed individual. To give up golf to spend more time and energy for his job, to me, was a nice gesture.

The Liar and Thief war time president has taken more vacations than any other president in the last 40-50 years. The fact he lied to get us into war deems him treasonous in my opinion. Now add on spying on Americans, torturing (anyone), over the top finacial spending and protection or Bear Sterns but not the American famers or lowly home owners, etc., etc., etc. and you would agree there is more than enough reason to impeach him. If you voted for him 2 times you also share the responsibility of his actions!

Respecting the Office of President is one thing. Respecting the holder of the office is another. The former goes with being an American. The latter has to be earned.

Bush has failed miserably in that regard. Those who say we should keep our dissent quiet simply because he is President would have wanted everyone to shut up and keep their mouths shut when Nixon was abusing his presidential power. That kind of attitude is, quite frankly, un-American.

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

"The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all."

Thomas Jefferson

"Those who are willing to trade freedom for security deserve neither freedom nor security."

Benjamin Franklin

BTW, I am from the same generation as you. So is Eric.

Bush-man gets no respect from me. 8 years and nothing has been done for the black man. Nothing has been done for the gay man. He is a racist homophobe!
