Soldiers' families suffer 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
This thread discusses the Content article: Soldiers' families suffer

This piece is just another example of the media trying to get a reaction out of people with horror stories. It is very one sided.

I am currently in the begining of my fourth deployment to a combat zone. I am an active duty soldier with the army. I can promise you this. deployments make strong marriges stronger and weak one weaker. Just ask my wife. Am I happy to be away from so much? No. However I have a oth to uphold and a duty to preform. And while no marrige is always peaches and cream I can say the the good and great times far out weigh the bad ones.

I guess that is why he refers to himself as "fistgod."

Humble chap too, isn't he?

Palintology - An obscure and absurd religion headquartered in Wasilla, AK. Its adherents worship Sarah the Shopper, who knows nothing about foreign policy, believes in witches but not in global warming, and can talk up a storm and gut a moose quicker than you can say "John McCain". The Palintologists look forward to the second coming of Sarah in the republican rapture of 2012, when they believe the mothership will come and take them all to the promised land.

My husband was deployed to Iraq from 2004-2005. He was able to come home during training for 2 weeks before shipping out to Iraq. During training and being in Iraq he was gone for a grand total of 18 months. Believe me the media only talks to those that they find to be going through the hard times they don't even contact those who are doing good during these deployments.
Sure it is hard on the entire family but they always make it sound like we cannot function without our other half. I had 2 children (1 was from a previous relationship my husband had and 1 was ours together.) whom I had to tell everyday that dad was alright. We were able to talk on e-mail, on the phone, and in letters.
At least you know in this day and age that they are alright unlike previous wars.
Another thing is if you attend regular family readiness group meetings and keep yourself busy you will find that the time goes by alot quicker.
I know that my marriage is stronger because I missed my husband and now that I have him home I don't want him to go back but if he has to then he has to. As I have heard many people say "It is better to fight them there than to fight them on our soil. At least this way our children are safe."

Yeah I heard the same lie! Do you really think fighting "them" there in any way would stop someone from coming here if they wanted?
