Oh, I doubt they had a better connection to the divine re: the authenticity of the document.

But they certainly were better historians and document provanceirs than the LDS leaders and their hirelings.

The Tanners could have easily led the LDS church on, but all of the literature on the matter concludes they warned early on to not accept Hoffman's assertions. (Look it up, Dubbs: (1) because it is so accepted by historians of all stripes, including yours; and (2) you can use the exercise of research -- be good for you.

I personaly don't like the Tanners, I saw Jerald at a lecture about 10 years ago and wasn't impressed. How ever If you have read my later posts, you will see how I fill about the whole mess. I was just trying to help poor drowing dubbs out.

Gerald Tanner was a sour man, even if a good document guy and amateur historian. His wife was much more likable, in my opinion.

I'm doing well thank you. The point I was making on Jerald and Sandra Tanner was the fact that they did indeed know right from the start that Hoffman was a liar.

I personally know both Jerald and Sandra Tanner and praise the Lord with their help I eventually escaped Mormonism. I admit that as a former Mormon I had been brainwashed to believe that the Tanners were somehow evil and liars with the damaging information they were providing on Mormonism but honestly Sandra always told me to check out the information they provided by using Mormon sources and thankfully after several years and much prayer I was finally one hundred percent sure Joe Smith and the cult he started were false.

As do many LD allow their leaders to do the thinking for them, so do many of the predictive prophetic evangelicals of these latter days. You are, at times, on the opposite side of the coin of the LDS. Blogan, trust in the Lord, and the rest will work itself out. Let's hope Dubbs learns that in time.
