This thread discusses the Content article: Child killed by car in Saratoga Springs

This is a sad ending. I have no idea if this child was walking with supervision or not but I hope he was not alone at that age. I am sorry for the family and friends and the driver of that car who has to live with this forever. The results of this accident is that nothing matters except that this is a true tragedy.

How utterly sad for all involved.

I am disgusted that an unlicensed 15 year old was behind the wheel. He needs criminal prosecution. One article I read said that his parents gave him permission to drive and that he had been cited before for underage driving. If that's true, they also need to be prosecuted and held liable for this tragedy. I see underage driving all the time, especially in rural Utah, not just young teens, but grade school age kids. It needs to stop. It may make life easier for those parents, but endangers the rest of us. Drivers ed and laws exist for a reason. Kids who are self taught tend to learn horrible habits that they never outgrow and are a menace to everyone.

I caught it on the news too. He was only 15 and the news I saw didn't know whether he had permission to drive or not at that time. If they gave him the keys to drive and he had that accident they are in big trouble. Kids will take the keys if they are allowed to. Kids are kids. They think they are invincible. How is a 15 year old going to live with this horror.

Being a mom, who has sent a child home way to early, I can feel a little of what this poor mother is going through. Her heart is breaking.

May the tender wing of angels enfold her, and may the Lord Jesus Christ; hold her, in his tender arms.

As for the young man involved, may he find piece.
