I'm afraid that if we take a Old Testament perspective on the issue of foreigners in the land, we find counsel to be kind and fair to them.
Exodus 22:21

If we take a Book of Mormon perspective, here we find a rather chilling vision of darker pigmented skinned people coming from Central America and mingling with the lighter pigmented skinned people, the Nephites. They, the Lamanites are, for periods at a time, more pleasing to God because they obey his commandments better.

In the end there exist no Nephites at all ( ! )
And this is because of the Sovereignty of God - especially through the wickedness, immorality and ungratefulness of the Nephites.

Ezra Taft Benson repeatedly drilled it into my generation, Mormon-Generation-X, that the Book of Mormon was made for our time...

And we caucasions believe that prison tents, large fences and political promises are the answer?

Not according to the Book of Mormon! No.

Great article.

If God knows everything, then He knows what the best form of government is and which policies are best for man. He knows what is most effective, efficient, and just. He also knows which political candidates will do the best job. This doesn't mean that He'll necessarily tell us the answer to all of life's most difficult questions, but I believe that we can figure out, with God's help, what type of government and which policies are best for us. Each of us might think we've figured out what God wants us to do in government and our ideas might conflict, but that's why participating in civic issues is so important. We don't have an established religion, but we acknowledge that God does care how we run our governments and we do the best we can to figure out how that is.

Oh now your made up God is the only God "LOL"

WHAT ABOUT THEIR GOD, MY GOD OR THE GOD THAT HAS NOT BEEN MADE UP YET...!!!

WHY SHOULD YOUR MADE UP GOD BE THE ONE WE HAVE TO LISTEN TOO...?????

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the question was posed to Bennion, 'Would Jesus vote for you?' and he responded "Yes, I believe he would."

Well it was silly of him to answer the question.

That is then, such a loaded question.

Say Yes....cause a commotion

Say No.....cause a commotion

Remain silent.....cause a commotion.

I agree with Sir John, probably the best answer would have been silence. But would that not have upset those in his faith?

Maybe someone with excellent diplomatic skills could say something spiffy and smart and make everyone forget the question was even posed. But, those who are charismatic and intelligent enough to do that are far and few in between. I mean you'd have to break out in song and dance or something like that...

What does Jason Chaffetz say?
Would Jesus vote for you Mr Chaffetz?
