The author gives Miley way too much credit. It was the worst performance I have ever seen. Miley is far from a polished performer and should be very embarrassed for her late entry, shoddy performance, and unsolicited 3-song encore.

The pre-show was, as always, fabulous. We were very impressed with the massive dance performance honoring the Olympics. The patriotic presentation of the large flag unfolding onto the field from the large red, white, and blue banners in the Nothern portion of the stadium was breathtaking. The fly-by was as wonderful and exciting as always, and the military tribute left tears in the eyes of most everyone in our section. Glen Beck and the Blue Man Group got the crowd going and kept us entertained.

Then came Miley...wait...she's not ready (so unprofessional)...okay...then came Miley...so utterly void of the stage presence that anyone on a stage that size should consider rudimentary. The entire 45 minutes of Miley on stage consisted of her yelling (not singing, mind you) indecipherably into the microphone, while pacing on the stage and attempting dance moves that her still-developing 15-year old body is not capable of pulling off to any degree of aesthetic pleasure. To add insult to injury, her attempts at speaking to the crowd were painful renditions of memorized dialogue, void of feeling, and empty of pauses sufficient enough for audience response time. Miley simply spoke, paused for 3-5 second, spoke again, paused again, etc., apparently unaware that the crowd was still in mid-response. No, she was not a polished performer. She did not present with a trained set of vocal cords, she did not appear on stage when first called, she did not apologize to the crowd for her belated entry, she did not project her energy outward from the stage, she did not respect or "read" the crowd by allowing them sufficient response time, she did not seem to notice that the noise of the crowd for her was only 1/2 that of the noise of the crowd for the Blue Man Group, she did not sing one patriotic song at a major 4th of July event, she did not even appear to realize that this was, indeed, a celebration of our nation's independence. The only thing that Miley did that was anywhere like-unto that of a polished performer, is that she DID (to her credit) spend time during the "meet and greet" with kids from the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

To be fair, there was one song in which she slowed down to actually sing (and not yell). During these spurts of real song, she showed a glimpse of developing musical talent. If she were to develop that voice, and possibly sing songs written to compliment it, she may be more than a washed-up teen performer five years from now. However, if she does not begin to act more like a performer on stage, and less like a teenager messing around in her room with a brush for a microphone, she will surely meet a sad, sad, embarrassing end to her career in a relatively short amount of time.

Was it worth the scalper prices or were you able to purchase them from the ticket office?

Wow- aren't you a cantankerous little piss-ant? You sound like the Granny who yells at the hide 'n' seekers to stay off her lawn. Cyrus is a child who appeals to children. Since I am not the steaming heap of no-fun that you are, I found it quite charming to hear all the pre-pubescent girls sing along with their hero. I didn't have to think twice of her talent to get a kick out of that. She had neither the dinosaurian irrelevance of SoF entertainers past-think Huey-hugging-Lewis or Alabama. Nor did she display the chest-thumping, intellect-draining walking headache of mindless excrement ala a Toby Kieth. Nor the flash-in-the-pan insignificance of pop culturedom's embarrassing legacy, American Idol, with whoever-the-hell-that-American-Idol-guy-was-when-they-had-that-guy. No, Ms Cyrus entertained the children, something the SoF has always had a hard time with, pre-fireworks anyway. Actually, outside the inclusion of that talentless Uber-Boob, Glenn Beck, this was actually a pretty good year for the SoF.

This immoral teen sex pot (witness the nearly undressed Vanity Fair photos she shot with her "Father's" permission) had no place at the show. And who the hell has ever heard of the Blue Men Group. Nonsense one and all.

A shame they pervert our nation's birthday to sell adolecent sex.

Yeah, even more proof that you are just a fuzzy-headed little troll. That seems to be working out pretty well. Enjoying yourself?
