That would depend upon what a given individual considers to be our country's finer sentiments and attributes.
Apparently someone thought he represented our country's finer sentiments and attributes. He served 4 terms in the Senate.
And no matter what anyone personally thinks about his politics...he was unyielding on issues that were important to him...and that is rare in politics.
Besides which...he had a wife, kids and grandkids who loved him.
How about we cut the dead some slack?
