The new fire station is a great plus to the residence in that area. Typically homes in the direct vacinity of a hydrant or station may see decreased homeowner's insurance rates. The decrease and how much depends on each individual company's SOP's and underwriting guidelines. I am a former paramedic and late night and early morning we did not use sirens, just our lights unless a traffic situation warranted the use of the sirens and at that it was for just a brief moment in order to clear the way for us to pass and then the siren was turned off. Good luck to the firefighters and medics of the new station be safe and save lives.
