The ghost of Howard Dean haunts the pundit class. As soon as a candidate of either party spikes up in the polls, he is compared with Dean, who had a spectacular boomlet in the second half of 2003 only to deflate as soon as people began to vote in early 2004.

If you've got a sack full of douche-bags and you reach in an grab something you're going to get a douche-bag. That's all the Republicans can do this time around.

The "Democrat" face and the "Republican" face are just two faces of the one ruling class. The only real difference is that the "Democratic" face wants a tiny bit MORE control and robbery than the "Republican" face. (At least, that's what their empty rhetoric indicates.)

Unfortunately some old prejudices may get the Huckster elected.  The guy is not a conservative at all and lately he sounds like an ignorant bush hating liberal instead of the "candidate for Christ."

Economic populism combined with cultural conservatism sounds a lot like Pat Buchannan.  Huckabee just sounds nicer when he says the same things.

Seems like only one candidate has not been bought by the special interests:

I admit I do not know much about Ron Paul, but his ideas are growing on me.
