This thread discusses the Content article: Tapping energy resources

Moulton is right. Oil drilling in ANWR and coastal areas is a must. Allowing other countries (Cuba and Mexico) to take oil out of areas in which we are not allowed to drill by environmental insanity is an economic death wish promoted Greeners. But nuclear is only part of the answer. Wind and solar power create colossally ugly structures visually polluting our bucolic countryside to which environmentalists totally blind themselves.

The AP reports that the US Air Force has announced a startling proposal. “The Air Force wants to build at its Malmstrom base in central Montana the first piece of what it hopes will be a nationwide network of facilities that would convert domestic coal into cleaner-burning synthetic fuel.”

The idea is to keep our defense forces from being dependent on other countries to supply our military with fuel. This could also kick-start development of the process into private industry, and could put a big crimp in the unreliable OPEC countries control over our oil supplies, since America has huge supplies of coal and oil shale.

One other point. The caribou herds have not only survived the Alaskan pipeline their numbers have increase...illustrating more lies promoted by environmentalists that herds would be devastated. They’ve made the same arguments regarding drilling ANWR, to stop logging old growth forests for spotted owl habitat, and to stop global warming to end allegedly declining numbers of Polar Bears...all of which are lies environmentalists swallow in great gulps.

Think the Air Force is getting nervous over that "bomb Iran" thing Bush and Cheney are pushing? Think gasoline is expensive now, you haven't seen anything if Israel gets them to attack Iran!

It’s amazing to me that you claim that Bush and Cheney want to bomb Iran and then display an anti-Semitic streak. With that many posts, one would think that you’d make a serious comment about a real problem not just a sarcastic remark.

I do agree that Iran will be bombed if either Obama or Hillary are elected. I remember a year or two ago. They said that if I voted for Barry Goldwater, we’d bomb North Viet Nam. And “they” were right, I voted for Goldwater, and we bombed North View Nam.

So what’s you’re solution to the problem of energy? Save the sarcasm and give us a real answer.

Goldwater? Hell, pops, if you're that old you know the major problem in this country is entrenched career politicians!

By the way, Arabs are also Semites by blood.

We've extracted one trillion barrels of oil so far. There are about two trillion barrels of oil left to extract. World usage is increasing at an increasing rate each year. With or without bombing you haven't seen anything yet, as far as the expense of gasoline is concerned.
