Donny and Marie Osmond signed for Las Vegas Strip show

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Donny and Marie Osmond will perform in at the Flamingo Las Vegas hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

A hotel official said Friday that the brother-sister duo, who starred in the "Donny show in 1976, will play Tuesday-Saturday shows for 26 weeks spread over eight months at the Flamingo Showroom.

The 90-minute show, beginning Sept. 9, will be presented by Danny Gans and Chip Lightman of GansLight Entertainment. It is being billed as a greatest-hits multimedia spectacle on a custom stage with multiple video screens and a cast of dancers.

"My version of a variety show has been what Vegas has known thus far," said Gans, an impressionist and comedian who has long played in Las Vegas. "What we have now is a true variety show which conveys the real essence of America and the country's love of homegrown talent."

Tickets, $85, $99 and $115, go on sale Monday for the engagement, which marks a return to Las Vegas for Donny sical family, The Osmonds, shared the marquee at the old International hotel with Elvis Presley in the 1970s. The International is now the Las Vegas Hilton.

"Donny and Marie are timeless entertainers and cultural icons," said Don Marrandino, president of Flamingo Las Vegas. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The duo recently hosted the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas, and are due to host "America's Favorite Mom," on NBC next month.

The Flamingo Showroom has been dark most of this month after entertainer Toni Braxton was hospitalized April 7 with chest pain.

Braxton's Las Vegas act, "Toni Braxton: Revealed," is in a two-year run that ends in August at the Flamingo. Braxton is due to resume her show May 6 after canceling several shows and taking a previously scheduled two-week break.

Since Vegas is ground zero for all things the LDS church hates, this goes to show that in the end, it is money that counts, not principles or ethics or doing what is right.

You can spin it any way you want about how wholesome there show will be. And I have no reason to doubt it, but I promise you, not more than 1000 feet from their Flamingo Showroom a 14 year old from Montana will be turning tricks.

I find it very fitting that a town originaly founded by the LDS have its most noted "Ambasadors" produce the "Donnie and Marie Vegas Strip Show".

Has it come to this? Gas prices and jet fuel costs have forced these two icons of visual and aural stimuly to detour to the lap dancing options that have forced so many of desperate ambition this option of ill repute in order to survive these times of coloric and petroleum distress??

I mean come on...have use seen Marie lately?
SHE'S A BONE! And Donald has been forced to show another belt hole to the aura that surrounds him.

But then again...Marie in a "Vegas Strip Show"??

Oh relax, Vegas has family shows all the time, they are trying to gear parts of Vegas to the family environment in shows and entertainment. So Donny and Marie area good alternative to Vegas sin, I think it is a good fit. I see nothing wrong with it.

We will see. Marie was on Dancing with the Stars, remember? Did you see her outfit? It wasn't exactly what someone who has been thru the Temple should have been wearing.

Don't get me wrong, I love this family. I've known them from WAY back before fame hit them. I was a classmate of one of the older boys.

But still, once we've been to the Temple, the same rules apply to all of us.
