Ok, let's analyze some issues here.

First, do we really want to criminalize the children of polygamy? How Mark Shurtleff has handled this has been briliant. Instead of doing worthless raids he has built bridges into the polygamouse community and the response has been numerous child bride situations avoided. When you do the big raid, it gets lots of headlines though everyone else runs for the hills. Over the long haul I guarantee that Texas will save fewer young girls by doing this than had they used some restraint. Leavitt blew it as well.

Second, Leavitt talking again. Ugg! His brother and family is the ultimate neoconservative clan. Neoconservatives are all former democrats, like his family. They are big government and very intrusive, like his family.

Has anyone received a satisfactory explanation on the Leavitt family finances? I know that another newspaper reported about a year and a half ago that the Leavitts keep their roughly $700 million in off shore accounts in the Bahamas so they don't have to pay US taxes. I have asked him about this and he mumbled an answer and moved on.

He wants to go to Washington DC to make a difference and the first thing he has is a vested interesting in keeping our current tax code so his money remains safe. A vote for David Leavitt is a vote for no change at all.

I really don't want to hear anything about David Leavitt talking values. Keep him off the pages and I will keep quiet.

The most disgusting aspect of the entire Utah County Republican convention was being handed a copy of this brochure where Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. endorsed the the closest thing to pure evil incarnate I have ever had the displeasure to meet in my twenty years in Utah -- yes, that would be Senator Curt Bramble. Shame on Jon Huntsman, Jr. for cluster-ganking Jackie DeGaston, who, without the governor's intervention, easily could have made it into a primary against Senator Curt "FloatGate" Bramble.

And did I mention? Notorious "juvenile delaquent," Hannah Lockhart, daughter of notorious delinquent chairperson, Stan Lockhart, was allowed to cast her illegal ballot for Uncle Curt, in spite of the fact that everyone at the convention knows full well that you can't run for a delegate seat in a precinct where you do not reside. Class act, those Lockharts.

Let's replace bleating with analysis.

First, the children are not being criminalized, but the behavior of polygamists (child assault, female abuse, tax fraud) is criminal.

Second, the quantification for the avoidance of "numerous child brides" is alleged but not given.

Third, one can "guarantee" that "Texas will save fewer young girls by doing this than had they used some restraint."

Let y'all in one fact -- bet you no child has been abused at FYZ for at least two weeks.

A standing ovation does nothing but to inflate their already big egos.

Mike, I read the brochure on your blog site, and some of Bramble's so-called accomplishments are really exaggerated. I especially like the "access to the west side of Utah Lake" accomplishment (with a little red check mark beside it). I wonder where this new road was built? I would also like to challenge the 57% of new money went to education claim. That is amazing to me since the share of the education budget in relation to the overall state budget has been shrinking. Like many Utah County republicans, Bramble is an accomplished magician who has mastered the technique of smoke and mirrors, shell games, and other parlor tricks.
