Bizarre and embarrassing.

Utah's Mormon inspired liquor laws FOR ADULTS seem as strange as would be the enacting of laws to govern a minor's access to candy bars, soda or an ice-cream cone.

They have been that way for years.... The attitudes of the state is totally crazy..... The drinking is so entranced in this community, by closet drinkers. They go to Nevada and buy it at cheaper rates.......LOL

Hey Sis...I'll drink to that!
We got a booze run to Vegas coming up...gotta get the party supplies for the heathen party, Y'kno!

Funny! Oh, wait...was it supposed to be funny? Why can't Utah just let folks who want to medicate themselves with alcohol create a situation where their brains temporarily lose the capacity to make good judgments and purchase more alcohol, which increases their danger to themselves and others? No....that sounds like a bad idea, so let's get the person who is dispensing the medication to exercise a little legislated control over the speed and type of medication that can be consumed in their presence. What? Utah is out of line with other states that allow greater levels of self-medication, which has SO MANY positive health and societal benefits? Darn Mormons. They think they're so smart, what with their living longer and better overall health. Just wait...all that jello and fast food (and prescription drug abuse) is going to bring the Mormons' average live span down to where the rest of America is, drugs, alcohol, and tobacco notwithstanding.

As for the bartenders? Heaven forbid they might have to memorize a small booklet as part of their job! They should have chosen to be Journalism majors so they could write for a newspaper.

When it comes to illegal narcotics Utah isn't any different than other state. Friday night I witnessed three Hispanic gang-bangers driving a brand new Cadillac Escalade make a drug transfer to one of their distributors right out in the open on a Provo street.

Utah dearly loves its illegal aliens!

Ah yes still keeping up the good work I see Keeper. Only the second post on the thread and you've already changed the subject to illegal aliens.

How do you know they weren't illegals? You should apply for the job of LDS prophet since you're so all knowing!

I like your graphics above depicting a Utah Mormon in the act of receiving revelation...

All the other quirky laws are not that much an issue... it's that "Private Club" thing that trips everyone out.

The law should be - if you're 21 or over, you can enter a bar or pub.

Soooo simple... yet so far.

I think 14 other states have state run liquor stores - and the 1.5 ounces in a drink... fine... the 2.5 ounce max... kinda stupid but people will live with that much easier that "joining a private club" nonsense.

Getting rid of the Private Club law would do THE MOSTS to normalize Utah's alcohol laws - and would make THE MOST difference to visitors.

The time of the "Private Club" has come and gone - please stop that nonsense.

There should be a law against having so many alcoholics in one place! I'll call Orrin and see if we can get something like that on the books.

So, what's to stop, say Iceman from ordering a sidecar of tequila and then trade me for my sidecar of vodka? Where there's a will, there's a way.
