This thread discusses the Content article: Pentagon eyes more Iraq troop reductions

according to other sources, it seems the iraq troop reductions are directly influenced by the fact that we now need more troops in afghanistan. I, for one, welcome the opportunity to move troops back to afghanistan, where the real threat is.

I hope this reduction is "real" and by that I mean its because we're winning in Iraq and can use these forces elsewhere. I hope it is not because some Generals in the Puzzle Palace, probably affirmative action promotions like Powell, Sanchez and Shenseki, think they can curry favor with the Magic Messiah Obama if he, Lord help us, gets into the White House.

Iraq is more important than Afghanistan. Barrack Osama bin Laden is completely cut off, living in cave, making rambling noises into an MP3 player for distribution to al Jazeera (by the way, why we haven't used their studios for B-52 target practice lo these many years is beyond me). Iraq is on the door step to Iran, it lies atop an ocean of oil that can sustain the USA for decades as we tell the Saudis to pound sand in their you know what. A major US force in Iraq will be needed for 20 years. But Barrack Osama doesn't get it.
