The model is always being tuned and this year includes a national poll variable not used before. But other methods of tweaking have been discarded because they made the prediction less accurate.

What's the variable? Estimating the number of dead voters and illegal aliens that vote democrat?

And then there's that little problem of Obama's lawyers fighting the court order of a federal judge in Philadelphia requiring Obama to produce documents proving he's a "natural born" US citizen in compliance with the US Constitution's (Article II, Section I) requirement for presidential office. Seems Obama either can't or won't prove that he's qualified to hold office.

The only problem is in your head, Keep. Obama, in fact, is a citizen by mother's right when you are, indeed, a birthright citizen. How ironic!

The key phrase is "natural born". No matter how much you twist and distort the phrase, being born in Kenya doesn't make Barry a "natural born" US citizen.

And that doesn't take into account being adopted by an Indonesian. A country that didn't recognize dual citizenship, and therefore neither did the US under the Hague Convention.

Just what we need - Obama, Harry, and Nancy - unchecked. There will be no energy independence, we will all be paying higher taxes, and we will slide further into socialism. Oh and did I mention we will lose the war on terror. It is not what they say in an election year - it is who they are and history doesn't lie.

Boy, you have really been smelling too much of that model railroad engine smoke again. You have no proof of any of the above, but we are sliding more into socialism right now because of the inept bumbling of the Bush Administration. Capitalism, left alone, (i.e. no regulations) will do what ours has done. Eat itself. This is what the profit motive, if left to its own devices, eventually does. Seems to me that Paulson is the one buying (nationalizing) private financial entities right now. Or are he and Bush secretly Democrats? Now there's a loony conspiracy theory for Keeper.

But I digress. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's the picture of what the UVU professor is talking about. Same methodology that he is talking obout.

This site calls it 357 Obama, 181 McCain right now. The UVU professor has it 354-184. Pretty close.

I like one of the commments in the site above, though.

The consequence of this whole campaign could be far reaching. If Obama wins and the exit polls show independents voted overwhelmingly for him, the pundits are going to lay the blame at Palin's high heels and advise the GOP to forget the evangelicals and run candidates with financial expertise (like Mitt Romney) in the future. Needless to say, the evangelicals, who finally got one of their own on the ticket, won't take this well and the ensuing battle will tear the Republican Party to bits.

Obama beating McCain. Fantastic.
