My only complaint is the karma (good/bad) portion of this website. Oddly before coming here I was positive and curious about that function as it seemed like a possible solution for controlling the angst on boards. Now that I have seen it, I am less than a fan. I wonder whether it has the impact of the same kinds of disagreements you see on other boards but played out by bad karma instead of discussing an issue more fully. I have seen great posters with more bad karma than good when it is obvious that they are very good or solid posters who put thought into their response to a news story whether I agree or not. In other words the rating is being used instead of counter argument, for social order, religious belief, and any number of reasons including just plain don't like someone. That result should be unacceptable for a news entity.
Maybe it is a quieter war but it has the same impact of turning off minds. I see that as a loss. More often than not, you are given a bad karma instead of discussing the issue. We only grow when we are exposed to all thoughts. It is difficult to consider the counter argument of a karma.
Just a thought...

I would like to know why the city papers are not updated on a weekly basis. I live in AF and look forward to reading my city news on line each week. However this doesn't seem to be happening. I know that the American Fork Citizen is published each week but it isn't put here each week. The most recent is March 8 and the one before that is Feb. 22. Please, try to get it out regularly in the same manner as the rest of the news.
Thank You

What are these ridiculous little icons at the end of each article? This is all too complicated and for that reason, I will choose to just not read the Herald.

The Internet in general is a confusing place. I think the little icons at the bottom of the articles are various link sharing websites. I believe you can add the article to your favorites section if you're wanting to save it, and/or share it with the other members.

They are called "tags" in internet jargon. You can add them to a variety of news websites that link them all together. A reader on Digg, for example, could find the article on the Daily Herald that you are looking at. It's a new phenomena among internet news sites. You can choose to just ignore them.

I sometimes wish there was a way for readers to flag messages that are offensive. KSL has a way on their site. I just really really don't like all the anti-mormon comments that are online every day on this site. They offend me. I wish people would just be nice and not try to tear down other people's faith. If messages could be flagged as "offensive", it would help me steer clear of them. As it is, I just usually stay away from reading any of the comments on religion.
