Jason has said every policy decision will be guided by those principles. He cannot support policy initiatives that violate those core principles.
Jason has also prioritized five key issues on which he plans to spend his political capital in Washington:
* Fiscal discipline * Energy Policy * Education * Illegal Immigration * National defense
The question was asked of you arc1....are you affliliated with the Chaffetz campaign in any way? Yes or no?

I was a state delegate. I voted for Jason then, and also for the primary. I have tried to be supportive since.
Jason doesn't have any paid staff/people helping him, as far as I know.
I was planning on having a sign up in my yard and voting for him again.
Sorry for the duplicate posts. I couldn't find them, so I pulled them off the other version of the story.
I was away from my computer, (yes I work), and I just read the comment. The term "political organizer" is new. I try really hard to get actual statements from a candidate, or from their campaign when I can. That includes the Democrat running. I try not to put words in someone's mouth.

Why don't we give Spencer a chance before we decide what he will and will not do. As a Democrat, Rep. Matheson has represented Utah quite well. He even voted with Rep. Bishop, a Republican, against the bailout bill. We need people who are moderate and level-headed. My impression of Chaffetz is that he only represents the radical element of Utah County. Someday, Utah County residents will figure out that a (D) or an (R) by a politicians name is meaningless. Voters can completely control what our representatives do in Washington. It is easy. When election day comes around, look at the voting record of our elected leaders. If you agree with their decisions, send them back to Washington, otherwise you fire them by voting for someone else. Our elected leaders would learn very quickly to represent their constituents. Unfortunately, the voting attitude in Utah County is one based on two letters in the alphabet: an "R" and a "D". Why should our elected Republican leaders do what the voters want when they know they will win an election every time? We as voters in Utah county have done nothing to empower ourselves, but have instead empowered the very leaders that represent us by our ignorance of the democratic process and the agenda-driven pursuit of power by a few individuals and special interests.

Senator. Point taken. Lets see what we actually know about the R & D candidates. Oh, and realize a good chunk of Salt Lake County is voting as well. The following are my ideas, based on what I have heard and read. I do not read minds, and if I am incorrect, would love to hear an reason from the democrat.
Jason has run his campaign in the black. He has received lots of donations, the great majority (last info I could find) from individuals. He instead worked hard to get individuals to help, any way they could. He beat both Leavitt and Cannon, not by spending more money, but he spent less. He has been consistent with his policy and goals, and plan. His radio ad says exactly what he will do. He has worked in Government, but is a business owner.
Bennion has received (based on the last info I can find) little money from anyone. He has not been able to get support, even from his own party. Other than Dick N, who narrated 3 very positive, ads, which have no substance as to any plan. They are the feel good ads.
He has one negative ad, that has no truth. We know the voters have already found out it has no truth. Will he run it or not? If he does, it only means he will do anything to win.
His donations have come from a handful of people, including some of the very very liberal. Based on that, how has he reponded. He started with the "Jesus would vote for me" over the evil Jason, ploy, and then pulled in, or encouraged outside groups to try to smear the good name of Jason.
If it was just his ideas or plan, that would be one thing, but he has attacked Jason's character, his humanity, contrary to Bennions pledge when signing up to run for office in the first place.
I realize Bennion has been desperate, and he will need good book sales if he fails to win, but we do not need this in DC. He has been a good man. He has changed his policy to match the out of state groups working in his behalf.
Based on this, we need Jason Chaffetz, if he was a democrat or republican.

Having a well-funded grass roots campaign is certainly impressive and shows Chaffetz to be a great organizer of like-minded supporters. The problem is that Chaffetz said one thing that hinted at his far-right philosophy which I'm sick and tired of in local Utah politics. When he talked about rounding up people and putting them in tent cities, rather than punishing the almighty sacred business owner that is root of the illegal immigrant problem, I knew Chaffetz wasn't the person for me. We need someone in office that can pull weeds out by the root, not chop off the tops. I suspect that this so-called grass roots campaign run by Chaffetz has some hefty Eagle Forum donations from Alpine. Most people in Utah County are sheep and when I ask why they are voting for Chaffetz, they can't even give me a coherent reason other than his Republican affiliation and their dislike of Cannon. I am willing to give Chaffetz a chance, but once elected we may not like him and his powerful friends will do whatever they can to keep him in office. How long did it take to get Cannon out of office? If voters would be more proactive and take control of our representatives, I wouldn't be so concerned, but many Americans and certainly Utah County residents have not figured that out yet.

Jason never said he wanted to round people up and put them in tents like you are quoting. That is the problem with Bennion. He has changed his own stance on immigration, and twisted Jason's so you don't see what it is..
Jason has called for a federal detention facility in the west to house federal prisoners. Only those convicted of a crime would be housed in this facility.
Federal prisoners who are not violent criminals are often released because there is no prison space to hold them.
The detention facility would house those who are convicted of federal crimes - whether or not these people are illegal aliens.
Jason has also suggested that tent facilities similar to those in Arizona are good enough for our soldiers in Iraq and should be good enough for our federal prisoners here at home.
