Air Force Airman 1st Class Jake R. Cottle has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

When Army Lt. Col. Frank Smith was assigned to a secret military project in the early 1940s, nobody told him what he would be working on.
