Combat turned political

I found myself back at Fort Ord for Leadership School, after which I was advanced in rank to corporal. More money, anyway. I took one week's furlough, drove my car home, was ordained an elder, went through the temple, and took the bus back to Fort Lewis. My orders were to prepare to be shipped to Korea for active duty.

Chairs are still wrapped in plastic. Plaster is still being touched up. And the Governor's Office is stocking drawers with neckties, nevermind that the drawers don't have handles yet.

While the Lehi City mayor said he and the Council agree on 90 percent of city business, it's the 10 percent that causes him the most concern.

John Hutchings Museum board members have tentatively secured nearly 50 percent of needed funds for the museum addition.

For most people, the holiday season is over. That is, unless you celebrate Christmas the Icelandic way.

Museum announces workshops -- The Hutchings Museum workshops for the 2008 winter season have been released. More information on the workshops is available at the museum, 55 N. Center St., Lehi, at its Web site, www.hutchingsmuseum.org or by phoning 768-7180. January workshops include a Great Depression Kit mystery, medicine bags and Native American culture, a Victorian Pocket Heart, trilobytes and survival skills.

Without a doubt, Lehi's top 10 stories for 2007 would have to include the Lehi Project, a Frank Gehry Architects sports and entertainment planned commercial and residential community.

Fairfield completed its third full year since incorporating with a mixture of milestones, choices and challenges.

As 2007 draws to a close the events of the last year from Pony Express Days to the election have added another colorful year in Eagle Mountain.

Pleasant Grove was a busy city in 2007. It has been a year of economic growth, an election year and a year of changes and additions to "Utah's City of Trees."
