An educator quite by accident, Sylvia Allan, the new principal this fall at Vineyard Elementary School in Orem couldn't be more happy to have found her dream job.

Well, the second week of school has almost come to an end, and everything is as it should be. Teachers are teaching, students are studying, and administrators are administrating. Not a class period goes by without students wondering how in the world they could have possibly learned so much in such a small amount of time. Joy and happiness abound, and the halls echo with songs of laughter.

When asked what school I attend, I have always answered the obvious and true, "Orem High School."

Although we've only been back to school for about two weeks, it feels more like it's been a couple of months. The pace at which school seems to be moving contrasts sharply with the pace at which summer sped by.

At 31 years of age, Craig Jensen brings a background of experience at both the elementary and secondary levels to his new position as principal of Windsor Elementary School.

Every school gets a few upgrades during the summer, such as a new coat of paint in the hallways, freshly waxed floors or new landscaping work. When students returned to Orem High last week, however, they found much more going on than minor repairs ¬­-- OHS is currently undergoing a complete rebuild that began in early June and is scheduled to be completed in two years, resulting in a brand new school.

Are you totally thrilled that football season is here? Why or why not? Who are your high school, college or pro teams? How do you think they'll fare this season?

"Can I just be ambivalent? My kids go to the high school football games at Mountain View High. And we watch BYU games. Any time Mountain View wins we're happy."
