Nebo School District reiterates attendance policy

Nebo School District is urging all parents and students to carefully review the new district-wide attendance policy that will be in effect for the 2008-09 school year.

If there's one thing the people of Utah County love, it's baseball. There are the city league teams, the accelerated teams, and coed teams to name just a few of the ways to play the sport.

The Utah County Fair began with a parade of Utah County cities and ended with fireworks and in between was sandwiched every experience a county fair should provide. Opening Ceremony special honoree was Berniece Woofinden of Benjamin who was a 4-H powerhouse beginning in the 1950's. Woofinden and her late husband Ennis started 4-H clubs in Benajamin and Leland where strong 4-H programs still exist.

Salem was first! It is the first Utah County community to receive a multi-product recycle bin from the South Utah County Solid Waste District. The large dumpster is divided into compartments that can be individually emptied. As the bins are put into use, each compartment will be labeled for a specific kind of recyclables. The choices will most likely be metals, paper, and plastic. Bins will be clearly marked for the materials that can be deposited.

Judy Stanton, coordinator of the Mountain View Hospital volunteers welcomed the volunteers at the Amber Restaurant in Spanish Fork last Saturday. About 30 volunteers showed up and enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Just five minutes before leaving for home from a camping trip on July 13, Brit Bradford, the two-year-old son of Cody and Tracie Bradford was trampled by a horse as his dad was trying to load the horse into the trailer.

Ladies both old and young will have an opportunity later this month to participate in a unique Princess Academy which will not only pamper those in attendance, but will also help Miss Payson 2008, Chelsea Cooper, have the opportunity to participate in the Miss Utah Pageant in July of 2009.

Dale Beardall has worked with the Little kids rodeo for 26 years. Last year the rodeo committee honored Dale by naming the Rodeo after him. It is now known as the Dale Beardall Little Buckaroo Rodeo.

At 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 1, the word went out that there was a fire in Spring Lake. The Payson Fire Department responded and soon saw it was traveling pretty fast up the mountain. Payson Fire Marshal Scott Spencer called for more help from neighboring towns.

Payson's Salmon Supper was a huge success even though so many of the workers who help to put it on was up fighting the Spring Lake Fire.

Helen Beckstrom called me a few days ago and asked if I would like a picture of their old Drug Store. I'm always thrilled when someone brings me a picture and a story. So I told her I would love to do a story about them. I had mentioned them a little bit before but I hadn't gotten a good story about their store.

The Utah Dingers Super League baseball team played 12 games in five days in the Triple Crown World Series Championship. The Utah Dingers lost their first game in bracket play. They then came back and won nine games to win the Triple Crown World Series Championship in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The boys were rewarded trophies and championship t-shirts.¬  The team was rewarded with a Louisville Slugger bat and TPX fielding glove.
