The Alpine Junior Miss Program is not a beauty pageant and it goes well beyond a simple talent competition.

"A person's a person, no matter how small," sings Daniel Cairo, in the guise of Horton the elephant, in the Alpine Community Theater production of "Seussical the Musical." This fits the production perfectly due to the range in the age of cast members, the youngest being 8 years old.

Daughters of Utah Pioneers to place plaque -- American Fork's historic City Hall will soon be sporting a new plaque. It is to commemorate the loan of the bell which graces the top of the hundred-plus year old structure. Members of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers offered to loan the bell to the city when they discovered both the city and the DUP had the same goal -- to preserve the bell. It was placed again on city hall when it was renovated in 2006.

Ordinance: Pool fences mandatory

Alpine residents who build pools will have to fence them or put up some kind of barrier around them. The City Council on June 24 passed an ordinance to make that requirement.

City Council votes to light up Alpine's rodeo grounds

The Alpine City Council voted to spend $22,000 to run power to the rodeo grounds in time for Alpine Days in August. This new power source will mean no generators putting out loud noise limiting the hearing during the rodeo.
