Alpine Fitness is having its grand opening Friday.


Alpine Olde Towne Center to get new building

Like a phoenix out of the ashes, a new office building will rise out of the pile of dirt which currently is located at Pad C of the Alpine Olde Towne Center. Carter Construction is planning on constructing a one-story building which bucks the recent trend of two-story buildings being erected.

Lone Peak graduation speakers emphasize service

You would be hard pressed to find a student at the Lone Peak High School graduation Friday evening without a smile on their face. While happy, a vast majority appeared relieved as well to have made it to the end of their high school career. The faces of the families in the crowd on May 30 had smiles to match those of their graduating family members.

New Highland ordinance to allow American Fork to move power lines -- The process was started on May 27 to allow American Fork to move power lines and construct part of their pressurized irrigation pond in Highland. The current public utilities ordinance prohibits other cities from putting utilities in Highland. However, the Highland Planning Commission recommended a code amendment to change the ordinance to change it. They also recommended approval of the general plans and zoning amendment to accommodate American Fork's pressurized irrigation pond.

Highland Water Advisory Board -- Tavis Timothy, a member of the Highland Water Advisory Board told the Highland City Council on May 20 the names of the rest of the board. "Mayor (Jay) Franson, City Engineer Matt Shipp , Mark Thompson, Ed Gifford and Al Schellenberg and myself comprise the board. We meet quarterly or more often if we have a reason."


Highland fence cost sharing debate continued

Apparently, water from the landscaping done by the city along the road has been overflowing onto three lots on the 10400 North side of Stice Acres in Highland. After more than nine months of negotiations with the City of Highland the owners still do not have a resolution to their problem.
