Lone Peak Community Briefing

Open burn -- The open burn runs from April 1 to April 30, and Cedar Hills residents must obtain an open-burn permit during the County's month-long burn window. The permit is free, and can be picked up at the City Office, 3925 West Cedar Hills Drive.

Yard sale sign rules -- Signs for yard sales and garage sales must include a sign permit. There is a charge of $1 per sign, and the signs must be posted in private residential areas. All signs of any type placed in the City's right-of-way will be removed. The complete sign ordinance may be obtained at the City office or viewed on the City's Web site, www.cedarhills.org.

Students visit American Fork -- Seven students from Germany came to the American Fork City Council on March 25 and made brief presentations.


Lone Peak FFA take eight proficiency awards in local contest

The Lone Peak High School chapter of Future Farmers of America competed in an area contest in February.

Alpine Gas Fireplaces began in a one room office in Alpine in 1976. A few months later in 1977, Lynn Broadbent and his son, Craig Broadbent, opened a small store front, barely 1,200 square feet, on State Street in Lehi on 782 West.
UDOT moves forward with S.R. 92 plans

North Utah County residents learned the future of S.R. 92, commonly called the Highland Highway, at a March 27 UDOT open house at Cabela's.

Journey to the Cross-- On Good Friday, the Community Presbyterian Church put on "A Journey to the Cross," an Easter program celebrating the last week of Christ's life. Participants "journeyed" to stations representing different biblical events that occurred the week before the crucifixion.


Highland looks at city hall options

At a public hearing on March 18 the Highland City Council heard ideas on what to do with the old city building. Members of the Highland City Arts Council made impassioned pleas for the city to keep it for community programs.


Lone Peak High presents 'Bye, Bye, Birdie'

Lone Peak High School steps into fan clubs and girlish screams of joy this week with "Bye, Bye Birdie," playing today through April 1 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Tickets cost $7 for students and $8 for adults.

Precinct caucuses Tuesday -- Utahns will meet in precinct caucus meetings Tuesday at 7 p.m. to select precinct leaders and name delegates to county and state party conventions.

In its 31st year, the Miss Drill Team Utah pageant has a new claim to fame: the first time a daughter has replicated her mother's achievement.
