In a session that lasted nearly five hours, the Mapleton City Council met May 7 and discussed developments in the city. Dr. Wendall Gibby addressed the council regarding his proposed Freedom Vista Subdivision, but the issue of most concern to city residents appeared to be the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for The Pointe at Maple Mountain subdivision. Over a dozen people stayed until after 11 p.m. to hear the discussion of issues related to that development. No vote was held on it, as the council concluded they must first address an annexation issue already underway.

Mapleton City Council meetings going high tech

The April 2 meeting of the Mapleton City Council was recorded on video with the intent of making those recordings available online. The hope is that more people will be able to view the proceedings of the meetings and become more involved in city matters.


Recycling options in Mapleton

Mapleton currently has a recycling program in place for those citizens who choose to use it. Curbside recycling is handled by Merrell Recycling for $5 per month for paper pick up.


Mapleton Green Committee needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed to participate on Mapleton City's Green Committee. The committee meets on the frist Thursday of every month. Their objective is to promote conservation (including recycling) in the city.
