Local students raise 'Koins for Kenya'

For our service project this year Mt. Loafer Elementary joined forces with Koins for Kenya.


Tintic High School presents 'The Crucible'

Tintic High School Drama class in Eureka usually performs a musical, but this year, they decided for once to do some serious drama and let the kids explore a little early American history.

Kindergarten registration for the Payson Area Elementary Schools will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20.


How to Celebrate Leap Day

We all grew up learning the rhyme about the calendar: Thirty days hath September, April, June and November. All the rest have thirty-one, except February, which has twenty-eight. Or DOES IT? Turns out the earth revolves around the sun every 365 1•4 days, so if we didn't add on an extra day every four years, we'd eventually celebrate Christmas in July!


Payson High School Winter Guard starts season with 2nd place finish

Payson High School Color Guard began its winter competition with a second place finish.


See thousands of Snow geese

Those who have watched snow geese fly in and out of Gunnison Bend Reservoir call it one of the greatest spectacles of nature. You can see that spectacle Feb. 29, and March 1 and 2, at the Eleventh Annual Snow Goose Festival. The festival will be held at and near the reservoir, just west of Delta. Admission is free.


Nebo district appoints new school administrators

Nebo School District has announced the appointments of three new administrators who will work at Payson High School, Canyon Elementary School and the new Salem Hills High School.


NEBO Mt. Nebo Jr. High receives grant w/pix

Emily Smith, music teacher at Mt. Nebo Junior High, received a grant for the music through the Nebo Education Foundation. This grant will fund music for band, choir and orchestra. Emily Smith exclaimed, "The Mt. Nebo Junior High school performing arts department is very appreciative of the grant received from the Nebo Foundation! Because this is our first year with eight- and ninth-graders at our school, we have no music appropriate for their ability level.


NEBO-Eureka city council agenda

The Eureka City Council will hold its regular council meeting on Monday, Jan. 14, at the Eureka City Offices, 15 N. Church Street, at 7 p.m.


Local students learn through cultural dance group

Almost twenty students ranging in ages from preschoolers to seniors in high school gather every Tuesday at the Grant Building in Springville to participate in a dance group which has had the opportunity to perform all over the state for a variety of dignitaries.


Payson Hockey takes second at tournament

On Dec. 28 and 29, Payson hockey team played in the High School Holiday Classic and won 2nd place. The team played awesome during the tournament and were matched against some fierce competition.


NEBO Remember When....

It was fun reminiscing abut the mom and pop stores we used to have here in town. I thought maybe I d go a little farther and write about some of the stores of bygone days. I m not listing all of them, just a few.
