A group of Brigham Young University students are celebrating in Paris this week after winning an international advertising competition.

When Cissy Xie's friends told her there was an earthquake on May 12 in her hometown of Du Jiang Yan, China, she thought it was a joke. Earthquakes were rare in the area, but Xie soon found the report was true, and she couldn't reach her family.

Dean David B. Magleby of the Brigham Young University College of Family, Home and Social Sciences has announced the appointment of Susan Sessions Rugh, BYU associate professor of American history, to a three-year term as the new associate dean for the College of Family, Home and Social Sciences, effective June 1, 2008.
