Dozens of Pleasant Grove residents picketed the City Council meeting on Tuesday night, protesting a proposed sex-offender rehabilitation center.

Manila Creek Park, which includes a pressurized irrigation pond with a seven-acre surface area, is another step closer to becoming usable. Pleasant Grove's City Council approved a bid for work on the project at last week's work session.

"Blithe Spirit," a comedy by Noel Coward, will be presented by the PG Players beginning tomorrow. Directed by Kathryn Little, the production includes a cast of eight, a ghost, a medium and a lot of fun.

Chess Club readies for tourney -- The Pleasant Grove Chess Club is preparing for a Scholastic Chess Tournament on Saturday at the Community Center, 547 S. Locust Ave. Registration is $20 and will be taken at the event. Check-in for kindergarten to sixth graders is at 8 a.m. and for 7th to 12th graders is at 1 p.m.

Broadcast television is going to undergo a big change in a few months -- the biggest change since the introduction of color TVs.

Residents of 70 condos and four twin homes in the Mount Timpanogos Village senior residences on the Pleasant Grove-American Fork border have been able to drive out 390 South and access 2000 West to reach State Street and beyond. With the expansion of 2000 West, the Utah Department of Transportation put an island in that road, eliminating left turns from Mount Timpanogos.
