Orem org. furthers Net dialogue about LDS

With the Internet being one of the most popular mediums for communication today whether it be e-mail, Web sites, blogs, chat rooms or instant messaging, an Orem-based nonprofit organization is helping those on World Wide Web learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

 
UVU, community fete school's university status

On Monday, thousands attended an all-day party on campus on the eve of Utah Valley University in Orem officially receiving university status. The next day, school, community and religious officials including LDS Church Pres. Thomas S. Monson dedicated the university's new Digital Learning Center on the UVU campus.

 
City renovates home to create first firehouse

In addition to inaugurating its police department on Tuesday, Lindon also opened its first-ever firehouse. Five or six firefighters will now be housed around the clock in a home the city has purchased and renovated just east of the fire station, which is next door to City Hall at 100 N. State St., Lindon.

Strawberry Days wrap up with Concert in the Park

After a week full of activities and strawberries, the annual Pleasant Grove celebration, Strawberry Days, wrapped up with a Concert in the Park on Sunday, performed by Kenny Favero. The festivities began a week earlier with a performance by Bluegrass Thunder.

UVU to celebrate transition-- To help manage traffic during UVUphoria festivities celebrating Utah Valley State College's transition to Utah Valley University Monday, College Drive between UVSC's roundabout at the intersection of University Parkway and Sandhill Road and the McKay Center will be closed from 4-7:30 p.m.

 
New Community Center to open

Pleasant Grove's new Community Center will be open to the public on July 1. The day will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. The public is invited to the event, after which residents can enjoy free admission to the center for the day to celebrate the grand opening.

 
Lindon officers sworn in tonight

When the clock strikes midnight Monday night, members of the Lindon police department will start patrolling the community's streets.
